Podcast #45 – Bitcoin Mining In America

In addition to China, Venezuela and Iceland, Bitcoin miners have their eyes on East Wenatchee because this rural town in Washington State has CHEAP ELECTRICITY.   East Wenetchee is located three hours east of Seattle and is situated on the Columbia River.  Thanks to five hydroelectric dams that straddle this stretch of the river, the locals have been enjoying cheap power and miners are definitely taking advantage of it.

I think this is awesome for the East Wenatchee community as this rural town is definitely in need of additional income.   Despite being close to Seattle, 16.5% of the town’s population, which is 13,500, and 13.4% of families are living below poverty line.  In addition, the median income for an family is $41,518 USD.  Lastly, the median income for male is $37,629 USD while the median income for female is $24,875 USD.
