Athene Holding Limited is an insurance company that issues, reinsures and acquires retirement savings products, such as annuities, designed for the increasing number of individuals and institutions seeking to fund retirement needs.  Athene Holding has offices in the USA, Bermuda and Germany.

Athene was founded in 2009 by the current CEO James Belardi, who is also the former President of SunAmerica Life Insurance Company.  Athene is currently trading on the New York Stock Exchange and the current price is $52.20.

But is Athene Holding currently investible?  Let’s take a look at the company’s financial statement analysis (I used the information available on Google Finance because there are huge discrepancies between the figures provides on the company’s website):

Ultimately, Athene Holding is not investible right now not only because the company has a high debt to shareholders’ equity ratio, but also Athene Holding is still too young to know whether it has a durable competitive advantage.

However, I would put Athene Holding in my watchlist because retained earnings increases every year and net income on total revenue increased from 12.07% on 2013 to 19.59% on 2016.  That means the company employs to good management team to grow this money into a financially healthy business.

Please feel free to leave a comment below! Catch you on the flip side!
